Save the Date

The date has been set for the next HEF event: April 19, 2012! Mark your calendars for this date, because you won't want to miss what we are planning. See the Event Page for more details.

HEF Grant Tea

The HEF Grant Tea took place December 8, 2011 at Morton High School. Thirteen Acorn Grants were presented, totaling more than $10,500.

Young Authors Conference

A large grant from the Huhtamaki Corporation enabled HEF to support a multi-year donation to Hammond's Young Authors Conference. In cooperation with the School City of Hammond and the Northwest Indiana Reading Council, hundreds of students were able to write their own books and attend the Saturday conference in April.

Success Starts at Home

What began as a brainstorming session about how HEF can help parents learn how to help their children be successful in school turned into a project including refrigerator magnets, school signs and billboards. For the complete story click on "Success Starts at Home."
