Education License Plate

Selecting the Garfield "Committed to Education" license plate shows your support for pubic schools and makes a contribution to HEF programs. Just $40 puts your commitment on your license plate, and a portion of that goes directly to the school corporation or public education foundation of your choice.

Honor an Educator

A tax-deductible gift to the HEF in honor of an educator who has made your child's school year extraordinary is an excellent way of saying "thank you" to a special teacher, coach, bus driver, secretary, counselor, or administrator.

Honor an Educator donation form

Huhtamaki Presentation

HEF President Dr. Gary Jones accepts a $12,000 donation for HEF grant projects from Rich Blastic of Huhtamaki.

Why Contribute?
Projects funded by the Hammond Education Foudation give students exciting learning experiences that foster a love of learning. These projects are not able to be funded through the regular school budget. Your donation will help to enrich the quality of education in Hammond schools.

The Hammond Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, so your contribution will be tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Payment Options

You can make an online donation to the HEF using your credit card. Your payment will be made through our secure online partner, Give2Schools.

You can contribute to the general fund, the endowment, or specific programs. You can also make a donation in memory of someone or to honor a teacher in our Honor an Educator program.

If you prefer, you can mail a check along with the printed donation form or the Honor an Educator form.

School City of Hammond employees can contribute through payroll deductions. To enroll in the payroll deduction program, complete the payroll deduction form and send it to the SCH Payroll Department.

Future gifts can be designated in a will or estate plan. The Enlightenment Society honors people who have included HEF in their estate plans. You may contact the HEF office for further information.

Fundraising Events
The Hammond Education Foundation hosts an annual function in the spring to showcase our organization and it's programs. On April 22, 2010, we celebrate our 27th Anniversary with an event at the Dynasty Banquet Center.

HEF also hosts a "Breakfast With a Benefit" each year honoring the new teachers in the School City of Hammond. The breakfast is sponsored by local businesses and attended by many friends of education.

Grants
Hammond Education Foundation has received grants from BP Foundation and Unilever Foundation that help fund our Acorn and Seedling Grants. Grants from the City of Hammond have helped to increase the endowment, assuring our financial security in the future. HEF has received several professional development grants from the Indiana Association of Public Education Foundations, and we periodically apply for other grants to help fund specific programs.

Science for Success
Since Spring 2005, HEF has rasied more than $120,000 to purchase equipment to update all of the high school science labs. This includes a $50,000 grant from the City of Hammond, a $30,000 pledge from CItizens Savings Foundation, $30,000 from HEF, and $10,000 from BP. We encourage other major gifts and individual gifts to complete this multi-year project.
