Why Contribute?
By contributing to the Hammond Education Foundation, you invest in the School City of Hammond's goal of providing the best possible education for Hammond's children. Projects funded by the HEF enhance the daily curriculum, giving students exciting learning experiences that foster a love of learning. Your donation will help to enrich the quality of education in Hammond schools.
You can contribute to the general fund, the endowment or specific programs. You can also make a donation in memory of someone or to honor a teacher in our Honor an Educator program. The Hammond Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, so your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Ways to Give
Personal Donations
You can make an online donation to the HEF using your credit card. Your payment will be made through our secure online partner, give2schools.
If you prefer, you can mail a check along with the printed donation form or the Honor an Educator form, available at the Donation Forms page.
Payroll Deductions
School City of Hammond employees can contribue through payroll deductions. Currently more than 1/3 of our teachers and administrators donate to HEF in this way. To enroll in the payroll deduction program, complete the payroll deduction form, available on the Donation Forms page, and send to the SCH Payroll Department.
Endowment Gifts
To help ensure the long term viability of the Foundation, contributions can be made to the Hammond Education Foundation Endowment Fund. Gifts of cash and stock are welcome. Future gifts can be designated in a will or estate plan, such as bequests and designation of the Endowment as beneficiary of retirement plans or life insurance policies. You may contact the HEF office for further information.
Honor an Educator

Say "Thank You" to a teacher, coach, administrator, or anyone who has made a difference in your child's school life by making a donation to HEF in his or her honor through the "Honor an Educator" program. A certificate and note pad will be sent to the teacher acknowledging the gift from the student.
Education License Plates

Selecting the new "Read On, Indiana!" license plate shows your support for pubic schools and makes a contribution to HEF programs. Just $40 puts your commitment on your license plate, and a portion of that goes directly to the school corporation or public education foundation of your choice.

Other Sources of Income
Fundraising Events

The Hammond Education Foundation hosts an annual function in the spring to showcase our organization and it's programs. In April, 2011, we celebrated our 28th Anniversary with a dinner at the Dynasty Banquet Center, with special guest speaker Roland Parrish.
HEF also hosts a Breakfast With a Benefit each year honoring the new teachers in the School City of Hammond. The breakfast is sponsored by local businesses and attended by many friends of education.
Grants
Hammond Education Foundation has received grants from the City of Hammond, BP Foundation and Unilever Foundation that help fund our Acorn and Seedling Grants. Grants from the City of Hammond have helped to increase the endowment, assuring our financial security in the future. HEF has received several professional development grants from the Legacy Foundation and the Indiana Association of Public Education Foundations, and we periodically apply for other grants to help fund specific programs.
